This is a temperature sensor, also known as a thermistor, compatible with various refrigerator models. It plays a crucial role in detecting the internal temperature and communicating with the main control board and defroster to regulate the cooling process. However, temperature sensors can develop issues, such as calibration errors and wiring problems, which can lead to insufficient cooling or frost buildup in the freezer or fridge. If you observe that your fridge is not maintaining the desired temperature, it is time to replace the sensor. This genuine OEM temperature sensor is sold individually, so ensure you check how many sensors your fridge requires before placing an order. Typically, temperature sensors are located in the back of the freezer compartment near the evaporator and in the rear of the main refrigeration section. Replacing the sensor necessitates a nut driver, wire splice connectors, wire crimpers, and strippers. To replace the sensor, start by disconnecting your fridge from its power source. Consult your user manual to locate the sensor(s) in your fridge. Cut and remove the old sensor and its wire, then strip a section of the wire inside the fridge to expose the internal wire. Next, cut and expose the new sensor wire and crimp it halfway through the wire splice connector. Connect the wire from the fridge to the splice connectors and crimp them securely. Reassemble your fridge and closely monitor its temperature to ensure proper functioning.
