Connected new filter to appropriate line, installed the tank, and connected the fuel-lines to the carburetor and primer, respectively. --The weed trimmer started on the first, after priming, after 3 years of non-use.

Does the tank assy contain the filter or is the filter separately?

Hello 528820,

The Poulan part number 578942701 Tank Assembly is one of the few that does not include the fuel filter. You would have to order the part number 530095646 Fuel Filter individually.
