Removed cover from pressure washer. Released tabs from switch cover housing. Determined switch was bad as one of the four connections had burnt off. Switch no longer functioned and had melted in the on position. This explained why device would not shut off before it finally failed. The burnt connection was no longer connected to the switch which also explained why the washer would not come back on after it cooled down. The melted switch is held in the lower housing which was also melted by the heat. The housing would no longer hold the switch in the correct position. After obtaining the new switch and lower housing, took a picture of the wiring and then proceeded to disconnect the starting capacitor then remaining wires on the switch. Disconnected ground wire by removing the hold down screw and pulled power cable through housing. Removed capacitor from lower housing. Removed 2 screws holding lower housing in place then lifted housing ensuring motor wires fed through housing. Reassembled with new parts in reverse order. Tested switch before putting cover back on power washer by ensuring pump assembly was in lower cover with hold down bracket securely fastened. Plugged in device and turned switch to on position. Pump started as expected. Turned switch off and device stopped. Unplugged unit and completed reassembly. Tested with water connected and ensured pump started/stopped when trigger was pulled/released.
