    Planer would not turn on

    1 Unplugged unit
    2 Removed switch plate with screw driver
    3 Took picture of wiring of switch to remember where each goes for reassembly
    4 Disconnected wires
    5 Checked switch for continuity between terminals. Confirmed the switch was bad
    6 Removed switch from plate. Had to cut switch off as the nut stripped
    7 Installed new switch
    8 Reattached wires
    9 Screwed switch plate back together
    10 Plugged and and turned on to check for function... bingo, problem solved

    Original switch was intermitent on/off -- New switch was direct replacement

    Replace the on /off switch on a Makita jointer/planer

    The switch hook up was easy. I needed to make a plate to hold the switch in and on location to replace the original switch.
