I replaced the entire assembly. Like the chemical tank the recoil assembly was weathered. I just cannot for the life of me figure how they "weathered". This thing has lived its life deposited under the barn. This power washer never ever once spent the night out. This thing rolls out of cover to wash tractors and implements coming to the barn from the field. How on earth did it 'weather'???
I removed the air cleaner cover and changed the the air filters.
Then removed the nuts from the old starter and installed the new starter.
