Two small springs on bottom of Dyson DC17 vacuum cleaner broke.

Time
Less than 15 minutes
Tools Used
Screwdriver, Needlenose pliers.
Parts Used
2. Springs connected the floating power head to the vacuum body.
3. Inserted one end of spring into hole in vacuum body (the easy part).
4. Other end had to be slid over a stiff plastic retainer on the floating head, down towards the beater bar brush..
5. That stiff plastic retainer was not easily accessible.
6. Grabbed the side of the spring end needing to go over the plastic retainer with needlenose pliers and stretched it towards the retainer.
7. Because of close quarters could not slide spring end onto plastic retainer.
8. Slowly stretched the spring to near where it should be with the pliers, then carefully put a small flat-blade screwdriver through the spring end and over the plastic retainer end, using the screwdriver as a lever to stretch the spring end over the plastic retainer end and ensure it was in place.
9. This took a couple of tries for each spring, but with patience and a steady hand eventually the job was done. Hope this helps.
