This authentic item is supplied by the original equipment manufacturer for use with Craftsman hedge trimmers. It is an identical replacement for a missing or a faulty spool cover that was included with a new unit. The purpose of this part is to secure the spool and line in the spool housing. It is held in place by two tabs on each side. Please make sure to refer to the appropriate diagrams of your model for the correct location and application of this component. Old spool cover cracked into 2 pieces from years of use

1. Removed old spool cover
2. Rewound new string into old spool which was still good following owners manual
3. Clicked spool into new cover and the cover into place after threading the new string into outlet holes
