-loosen set screw on round hand wheel. Remove wheel
-remove wavy washer from spindle on handle side
-remove belt from pulleys, (still around spindle but loose)
-loosen set screw on pulley mechanism
-use hammer & wood block to tap spindle out. Look for loose metal key, save
-insert new spindle in reverse
-before tapping through pulleys, insert key into keyway and align with pulley
-finish tapping through
-i had some problems with the bearing wheel popping out. I used hammer and block going around little by little to get it back into the circular hole.
-push spindle all the way in. Align pulleys so that lock pin works, and tighten set screw.
-after outer bear ring is snug back in body, replace wavy washer, then hand wheel
-tighten set screw in handwheel
Bearings went bad and had worn the spindle.
