It is a genuine OEM sourced part is specially designed for riding lawn mowers and garden tractors. The solenoid acts like an electromagnetic switch, it engages and routes the battery electrical supply to the engine starter when the ignition switch is rotated to the start position. Unfortunately, over time it may wear out or get damaged eventually requiring a replacement. Keep in mind this high-quality solenoid is sold individually. You will need a screwdriver and a wrench set to perform this repair. Check the diagrams of your model for the exact location and the correct installation of the new part.

I searched online and the solenoid going bad is a common issue. I know nothing about engines and didn't even know what a solenoid was. But this was a super easy replacement and it worked like a champ.
Would not start. It did not turn over as opposed to turning over and not firing.

Reinstalling the solenoid was difficult. The location was very hard to hold the solenoid in the right place and install the screw through the body to the solenoid and get the screw started. It took determination and patience to get it started. I used a light behind the solenoid to help see the hole and the right place to install.
Once the screw caught and was tight, the rest was easy. Put the little strap back, dropped in battery, reattached battery cables.
Crossed my fingers, and it started right up! Hooray!
69 yr old female. I'm pretty mechanical, but it's not my forte for sure.
Watching some You Tube videos ahead of this job was extremely helpful.
