Main drive shaft broke on a Cub Cadet 42" 3 stage tractor mount snow thrower

Snowblower

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Pliers, Power Drill, Socket set, Wrench Set, Nutdriver, Adjustable Wrench, Big Hammer

Removed front section of blower from the tractor mount and pulley housing, disassembled snow chute.
Removed auger assembly and transmission from thrower box.
Removed augers from shafts, disassembled transmission.
Cleaned and inspected gears, replaced drive shaft, seals and main bearing (was damaged in breakage).
Heavily greased shafts to prevent augers from rusting solid (which is what caused the shaft to snap, as the break-off bolts were rendered inoperable because drive shaft was rusted to rear auger).
Cleaned, lubed, reassembled and tested.
Replaced transmission gear oil with 75w-95 full Synthetic.

Tip: Get a good pair of snap ring pliers. I wasted probably an hour of time trying to get the C rings off and back in the transmission housing with junk $8 pliers that kept falling apart!
