    broken plastic rotor

    Michael - February 23, 2022
    Tool Type

    Snowblower

    Difficulty

    Easy

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Wrench Set, Metric Hex key 8MM

I had a broken plastic rotor, it cracked on a piece of frozen dirt after years of service. first I removed the metal side panels, three screws on each side. Check the belt, mine was in good shape. With the handle end facing away from you, not the right side you use an 8MM hex key, the other side you put a 7/8" wrench on the "nut". Note, the shaft is reverse threaded. once you start unscrewing, the entire shaft comes out the left side, careful to not lose the little bushing that will go into the end of the new rotor. Once the shaft is completely out, place the bushing into the new rotor, then install the rotor so it fits into the mating shape of the right side of the machine. There are no screws, it just fits into the right side. Once in place, slide the shaft back through and tighten, remember it is reverse threaded. Once tightened, screw back on side panels and you are done. Super easy and straight forward replacement of the rotor.

    Broken coupler-rotor

    HUGH - March 3, 2019
    Tool Type

    Snowblower

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    More than 2 hours

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Hex wrench, wire brush, WD40, hammer, pipe

    1. Followed original instructions that came with snow thrower.
    2. Removed right end cover. Have had thrower for many years, so wire brushed phillip-head screws - one came out second broke off as could be expected.
    3. Could not break loose the hex nut even tapping wrench with hammer and using pipe to extend wrench handle for more torque, so removed left cover and used large socket and ratchet while holding hex in place.
    4. Did not come loose (actually applied so much torque shaft began to twist).
    5. Used several applications of WD40 over next couple of days - attempting removal each time to no avail.
    6. Because of the age of the equipment, I do not believe it can be repaired for less than the cost of a new thrower, but I had to try. I was well satisfied with your parts and delivery.
