Product Information
Specifications
Part Type: Starter
Description:
This authentic manufacturer rewind starter spring is a replacement part used in various power equipment engines. It is connected to a pulley system, and it is found inside the starter housing. It is a tightly wound metal spring that stores and releases energy to pull the starter rope back into the housing after starting the engine. If you are having difficulties starting the engine, or pulling and retracting the starter rope, then the rewind starter spring may be broken or worn down, and in need of replacement. It is recommended to replace the rope at the same time if it is frayed or worn down. Begin this repair by switching off the equipment for your safety. Disassemble the starter housing, and slowly unwind and remove the old spring. Position the new spring in the housing and tension it properly. Reassemble the housing to complete the repair.

Chipper was left with ethanol fuel and rotted the bottom of the fuel tank out and left the carb full of yellow “sand”. The rewind spring was broken, the engine would not turn over, as it turned ou
Removed the fuel tank and carb cleaned the carb and installed the rebuild kit. I cut the damaged metal out of the fuel tank, cleaned the rust out of the rest of the tank with a needle scaler and welded a new bottom onto the tank. Next I pulled the blower housing off and replaced the rewind spring. After that I pulled the housing off the chipper, took the flails apart and freed them up, cleaned the mouse nest out, gave everything a coat of paint.
Now I have a good chipper that starts on the second pull that I saved from going to the dump for very little money.

starter clutch jamed, breaking the starter pully.
pulled cover, replaced all parts needed. you have to make sure you wind up the starter spring enough so when you let the rope retract it returns all the way in. and if you pull the seal off the starter clutch, old part. watch out for ball bearings to drop. I couldn't believe that parts were still available for my 42 year old pincor generator. I almost junked it, now it's back in service running great. thanks for being there.

  • Very pleased
This isn't an easy repair but needed to be done. Also replaced the pull string pulley. The pulley was the real problem but while I had it apart I thought it best to replace the spring on an old B/S 8 horse.
