This is a genuine manufacturer-approved component which is designed for Toro and Lawn Boy riding lawn mowers and garden tractors. It is an identical replacement for a missing or a damaged pulley-idler that was installed on a new unit. This part applies tension on the belt. Parts Used
Removed deck, lifted and removed right rear wheel for access. Removed tensioner then belt.
Removed nut to spindel that broke as well as second one that I removed just to have two new ones. Replaced spindels and new belt. Connected tensioner and spring. Replaced tire and dropped mower and reattached deck.
I also cleaned and greased all certs and cleaned all electrical.
I went ahead and replaced the oil and filter using Rotella that I'm a fan of. Mower engine noise was reduced to new quality. Replaced and plugs, removed carb bowl and cleaned carb and jets. Adjusted carb.
The deck is tore all to heck as I've abused the heck out of my TORO with a Kawasaki motor. Still great but the deck is done. Otherwise, I think it would last another 13 years.

Mower would not start replaced the battery and starter. No good. The idler fell apart and was eating my belt.

Jacked it up pulled the keeper off the clutch unplugged the clutch wire. Had to use a small screwdriver to raise the keeper clip. Took the spring off the take up idler Changed the idlers and belt. Then put the spring back on.

Raise mower to get access beneath engine, idlers are attached with two through bolts and nuts. Pay attention to belt pattern when removing.

Drive idler pully bearing failed and right hand drive arm damper bolt fell off

Removed the mower deck.
Removed right hand wheel well/instrument control panel panel with torx screw driver.
Jacked the front of the z mower up.
Used 7/16 socket to remove and replace pully.
Let the jack down and removed it.
Reinstalled the mower deck.
Replaced the shoulder bolt and washer on steering damper. Using a torx screw driver.
Reinstalled the right hand panel using a torx screwdriver.
Removed right hand wheel well/instrument control panel panel with torx screw driver.
Jacked the front of the z mower up.
Used 7/16 socket to remove and replace pully.
Let the jack down and removed it.
Reinstalled the mower deck.
Replaced the shoulder bolt and washer on steering damper. Using a torx screw driver.
Reinstalled the right hand panel using a torx screwdriver.
