Motor pulley stripped, backed off and broke the drive belt

    DREW - August 28, 2016
    Tool Type

    Sander

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, Pliers, Wrench Set

    1. Removed outer cover
    2. Removed stripped belt and stripped pulley
    3. Blew out all sawdust and debris with compressed air
    4. Used Red Loctite on new threaded pulley threads to prevent it from becoming loose and stripping like the first one did.
    5. Used pliers and screwdriver to hold the motor from turning while screwing and tightening the threaded aluminum pulley into place. It's very important for it to be tight, or being aluminum, a relatively soft metal, it will wobble and strip off its threads. The Red Loctite should prevent it from ever being able to wobble free.
    6. Installed new belt over pulleys and replaced plastic cover.
    7. Plug in and test.
