Sprocket, chain adjuster, chain guide

Alan - September 13, 2017
Replaced oil line after removing oil ump. Adjusted oil pump for good wheel contact. Replaced chain guide. Replaced chain adjustment screw, pin, and washer. Replaced chain guard that protects oil pump housing. Older obsolete Husky 266 XP chainsaw is a great mid-power saw. Hated to buy a newer model when this one serves me well with a few repairs, it is almost like new again. The parts I received worked as supposed to..fit was correct. There is no special instructions, just straight forward take apart and replace. If you need, take pictures as you disassemble...then you can have reference if no repair book is at hand.
Thanks

Professional repairman (I say in jest) had lost the chain tensioner, protection plate, and broken anti vibe element, so I decided to fix it, along with installing new ring and honing out jug.

Gene - June 26, 2017
Tool Type

Chain Saw

Difficulty

Medium

Time

1-2 hours

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Power Drill, Socket set, Wrench Set, Nutdriver, Allen wrench

1. Removed jug and looked for deep scratches in jug and on outside of piston. There were none.
2. Lightly honed out jug and used very fine emery cloth to smooth piston.
3. Removed ring and cleaned groove.
4. Used regular 2-3" pipe clamp as ring squeezer and slid piston back into jug. Torqued it down.
5. Reinstalled everything I had taken out to get jug off.
6. Installed new air valve I had also received from replacement parts.
7. Installed antivibe element.
8. Put it all back together, installing chain tensioner and protection plate as I went.
9. Took a while to get the high and low idles in the proper place, but once I did, the old Husqvarna 266 xp ran and cut large logs like it was new again.
