Upon doing a compression test on this blower I only got a reading of 70 PSI. Replaced the piston, piston ring, piston pin, piston circlips & cylinder packing. After installing these new parts a new compression test was now 145 PSI. Added a little fuel and it started and is running like new. I never did any repairs like this before and found it quite easy to do myself as I paid attention to details.

Pretty straight forward. Remove plastic casing, fan blade. Remove magneto, muffler, carburator. Remove bolts holding cylinder on and lift cylinder off. Swap the two covers on the cylinder, making sure you remove each and install exactly to the same location and direction as they were installed on the old cylinder. Note the arrow on top of the piston so that you install the new piston correctly. I recommend scribbling a little mark on the engine case to help you remember. Remove snap rings on wrist pin. Drive out wrist pin. This was a little tricky. Emory clothed wrist pin, and clean it up. Install one snap ring in piston. Clean out the small end of connecting rod and put a few drops of oil in the small end of connecting rod. Carefully press in wrist pin with a pair of channel locks, then put a small bolt that has a head smaller than the wrist pin hole and pressed the pin all the way in, up to the snap ring on the opposite side. Install other snap ring. Add a few drops of oil to cylinder and piston ring. Make sure the piston ring is lined up to the alignment pin in the ring grove. Carefully push the cylinder onto the piston. Bolt the cylinder down and assemble everything in reverse order. Use a couple of thicknesses of paper to set gap for magneto.
