1. Remove axle bolt.
2. Remove broken washer.
3. Replace with new washer, flanged (bigger) side toward wheel.
4. Reinstall axle bolt.
NOTE: I used lock-tite on the threads of the axel bolt to ensure it didn\'t work itself loose.

First I removed the shoulder bolt with the impact wrench. Then removed the wheel. Removed the clip ring, then the thrust washer. I then removed the pinion gear just by pulling it off. Replace the old thrust washer, clip ring, and thrust washer. To assemble just reverse the order of the tear down.

Self-propel stopped working

Unhook plug wire
Remove plastic housings at bagger assemble to remove 3 screws for belt shroud
Block up and remove rear drive wheels
Use snap ring pliers to remove ring and pinion gears (keep track of shim washes)
Remove snap ring from bearing housing, remove wheel adjusters
Clean axle shaft and slide bearing s inward
Remove 3 screws from belt guide on transmission and slide belt off
Remove transmission by pushing long shaft through housing enough to drop transmission
Check bearing and replace if needed
Reassemble in reverse order, torque bolts as needed

Removed front wheel and drive gear to allow removal of the broken grass deflector. Replaced grass deflector using a special stepped washer, which was also broken and reinstalled drive gear and wheel.

Removed drive wheels, removed snap ring and old gears. Reassembled with new gears and snap rings. Reattached wheels replacing with new stepped washers. Make sure that transmission shafts are free of any extraneous material. The shafts should drive the gear completely into the drive wheels.

I pulled the rear wheels of and the handle mount to expose the bearings and sleeves.
I unscrewed the old retainer bushings.
I pressed the bearing and bush sleeve into the retainer bushing using the bench vise. this made it very easy.
I put the retainer bushings back in place and put it back together.
The mowers sel f-propels quietly and quickly.
