Jack-shilf bearings & shaft wore out, the blades were bad, all new parts purchased fit great.
I used my 2 ton engine lift to raise the lawn tractor mower front end high enough to do the repair job easily. 3 of 5 screws attaching jack-shaft to housing broke. Could not remove the spacer from old main shaft to replace with new shaft. Hardware store for new screws, I had metal tubing on hand to make a new spacer. This old machine i

Both blade shafts were bent and bearings needed replacing.
1. Removed the cutting deck from the mower.
2. Used an impact wrench to dis-assemble and remove the components.
3. Replaced the upper pulleys, the spindle shafts, the shaft housings (mandrills) and the cutting blades.
4. Reassembled the components.
5. Replaced the cutting deck.
Lifted front end of mower and placed on 3 ft. 2x4
Removed mower blade retainer nut , washers and blade found had a broken blade adapter.
then found mandrel was bad.
Removed mandrel Bolts which one of them snapped off.
Removed mower deck pin so front of deck swung down
Removed Mandrel with pulley etc.

Put mandrel and pulley back into position raising the mower deck and putting pin back in place; had to fight with the belt a little bit. Put bolts in place, tightened them up for mandrel, put blade adapter on then Blade washer and nut and tightened that down and lowered front of lawn mower.
replaced the drive belt once I got the right size.
then replaced the blades an the deck. had to cut the nuts off the shaft then order new nuts then buy a die to clean up the threads. then tighten everything up then heated one part of the deck up bend it back away from the blade. then welded the broken wheel bracket back on deck th
... Read moreen made new pieces to fill in the holes caused by stones flying through the deck. filled the holes then put the deck back on after a little touch up paint. total time about 3 days.
