It is an authentic OEM item which is designed for Shimano fishing reels. This is a special spacer that is utilized to apply tension on the spool. If the washer is worn it may result in a backlash and the line overextending under a heavy load. Over time due to friction it may wear out or get damaged otherwise, eventually requiring a replacement. Make sure to check the diagram of your specific model for the correct installation of the new part. One durable spool tension spacer is included. Replacing it is a simple task that should not require any tools. Simply remove the cast control cap, remove the old spacer and secure the new one in place.
