Rear of motor housing (that contain ball bearing) bumped & broken.

George - February 27, 2018
Tool Type

Miter Saw

Difficulty

Easy

Time

30-60 minutes

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Wrench Set

1. Unplugged saw, removed brushes. Removed top of the handle assembly, switch assembly flew apart; cursed accordingly. Removed power cord and protective grommets.
2. Dismantled old motor housing; left armature in place.
3. Removed brushes' housings from the old housing, inserted in the new housing.
4. Replaced new motor housing over armature -- a bit of magical jiggling, and a few naughty words needed to get bearing into housing. Had to go easy so we didn't break out the rear of the housing by being too aggressive.
5. Replaced brushes.
6. Replaced electrical power cord in handle
7. Took a while to get the trigger and safety switch assembly back together, then reattached the top of the handle assembly.
8. Plugged in the saw to power.
9. Held breath, depressed the switch -- the thing ran like new.
10. Put away tools.
