Milwaukee 12v impact driver had a motor bad

disassembled drill driver. removed motor and circuit board. Unsoldered wires and soldered to new motor. reassembled drill and everything worked fine. I've used it several times since repair. I'm currently going to order a motor for a 18v drill to repair. I'll lt you know how that goes. P.S. I'm an Auto mechanically so I've got skills that some might not have. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined you can make this repair. Just pay attention upon disassembly as to where the parts go.

Impact driver was not that old but the motor smoked while using it. Took the gun apart and desoldered the wires to the motor and soldered on the new motor. While putting the gear assembly back togeth

    1. Remove the screws holding the gun together. Battery should be out already!
    2. Remove little metal clip in battery compartment.
    3. Lift up one half leaving the other flat on the bench.
    4. Remove the 4 metal pins holding the gear assembly and anvil to the motor. They just
push out easily with a pick or very small screw driver.
    5. Be mindful when you pull the sections apart (3) because the reduction gear assembly will
be messy and coated in grease.
    6. Un-solder the old motor wires and solder in New wires. Be careful with the wire routing
because it is a tight fit! Take pictures ahead of time to be safe.
    7. Put gear reduction assembly back together and grease liberally. Match up with the gear
on the motor until it lines up with the contours of the motor.
    8. Put on the anvil and install the pins back holding the unit together. One set of pins is
    longer than the other.
    9. Carefully put everything into the housing and make sure the fit is closed before you put
    the screws back in!
    10. Install screws and metal clip inside the battery compartment.
    11. Install the battery and have at it!
