I watched the video on what to do, and how to test the heating element, then I opened up the dryer, pulled the drum out, and tested the heating element- which was very easy with a cheap meter.
I then ordered the part which took a while because the wrong part was sent to me by accident. Ereplacementparts was very quick to fix their mistake with no hassle.
Once the new heating element arrived, I installed it in the back of the dryer, plugged all the wires in, put the drum back in carefully, and put the belt back on the tensioner pulley. Then I screwed the cabinet back together.
Just a few important notes-
There are many different screws, when you take a panel off put the screws back in 2 save them.
The wire tabs on the heating element have a tendency to get stuck in the wire crimp ends. Be careful not to flex the crimp ends too much when removing the wires, they can break. Also, take a picture of the wire locations or label them.
Remember how the belt goes on the pulleys. Putting the belt back on is probably the only real hard part to this fix, plus getting the drum back in and aligned. There aren't many diagrams online that show the routing of the belt.
If you dryer isn't backed against a wall, now is a great time to clean the lint out of the tunnel in the front and bottom of the dryer.
This one hundred percent fixed my dryer. Everybody that is capable should test the heating element in their dryer and change it before they spend four hundred bucks on a new dryer.
