This genuine OEM door latch is a metal mechanism that holds the washing machine door and prevents it from moving during use. The latch is designed to release when the cycle is complete, and the machine is switched off. Over time the latch may corrode, break, or become dislodged from its position. A faulty latch will not be able to engage with the door switch and the washer will not be able to detect if the door is open or closed. You may notice that the washer stops midcycle, will not start, or will not stop when it should. To replace the latch, open the washer door and remove the fasteners that hold the latch to the washer frame. It is recommended to replace the fasteners at the same time if they are stripped, damaged, or worn down. Align the new latch with the mounting holes and secure it in place to complete the repair.
