1. Removed the old cable assembly. It consists of two cables. Dead man switch cable and lawn catcher latch release cable.
2. Installed new cable assembly in the place of the old one. The new cable assembly has one difference. The upper end of the cables were previously held in place by a plastic nub that secured into the lawnmower handle. The new assembly is held in place by a bolt that is provided with the assembly.
3. Plastic cable guides are fastened to the mower handle by means of automotive body clips. Plastic push rivets that push into holes in the steel mower handle. In cars, these types of fasteners are used for door panels and other internal car panels. When these were removed they broke because they were brittle from exposure to the sun. I went to the nearest auto parts store and bought replacement fasters to complete the repair.
