Product Description ?

This is a 1/2-inch OEM keyless chuck for hammer drills, allowing users to swiftly change drill bits and attachments without requiring a chuck key. Due to the mechanical stresses it undergoes, the jaws of the chuck can break or wear significantly, resulting in a loss of grip or excessive play. If you encounter difficulty tightening or loosening the chuck jaws on your drill or notice wobbling during operation, replacement is necessary. To replace this chuck assembly, you will need a screwdriver or drill to remove the initial left-handed screw on the inside. To completely remove the chuck, it is recommended that you secure the drill in a vise or use the drill itself, along with an Allen key, to detach the main chuck assembly from the drill. Once the old chuck is removed, you can effortlessly install the new chuck along with its securing screw. Please note that this chuck assembly is sold individually and does not include any additional securing hardware that may be required.

It cost less to order a new chuck than to send the Milwaukee Fuel 18VDC Li batt. back to the factory. The chuck has a counter-thread screw at the bottom of the chuck. You have to be a big guy or get a big friend like I did to stand on the drill. The vise was too small. I got the red-thread locked screw out. Then I had to use another star hex wrench and the same amigo to stand on the drill again while I pulled the chuck body off Clockwise. So, it's counter-clock, regular clock to remove the whole chuck. There is a dude with a you tube video that also shows you how to do it. It's easier to DIY than send it back to Milwaukee.

I found a video on YouTube and followed along. However, everywhere on the internet tells you the screw inside the chuck that needs to be removed before you can unscrew the chuck is a phillips head screw. That was not the case for me. All three of my hammer drills are a T-40 Torx bit. I had to run to Harbor Freight to pick up a set of Torx bits that were long enough to reach all the way inside the chuck.
Keep that in mind when you're changing your chuck! All the new drill may have Torx head screws instead of phillips.

, Torq and large Allen key hammer

First bolt inside chuck is a torq and left handed.
    Open chuck all the way.
I used the torq but I believe it was a t-35 and my 1/4 drive impact and took it out.
Then I used large Allen key, tightened it in the chuck, position it just right and smacked it with a hammer and broke it loose. Then came off w/ a problem.
