Neglected machine, rusty, needed complete overhaul

Wrench Set, magnetic blade setting jig

This rusty, neglected long bed 6 inch jointer must have spent some time on the dock, outdoors. When I was helping a friend move his wooden boat shop, he said I could take the jointer as he had another. After cleaning the rust off with a 4 inch grinder and abrasive disc I found that the only parts missing were a couple of blade locking screws in the cutter head. I had used eReplacement Parts before and I really liked the exploded schematic that clearly shows every part so I know if any original equipment is missing. I already had a spare set of 6 inch knives that were sent out to be sharpened. When the knives came back I carefully reassembled the cutter head, set the blades with my magnetic blade jig and adjusted the out- feed table. I turned it on and ran some KD white oak through and voila, a perfectly smooth, chatter-free cut. She still ain't too pretty but for a total investment of $21.00 who is going to complain? My son, his wife and young son have just moved to their first home where he will build a large shed for workshop and storage, using some of my old tools that I gave him. I have highly recommended eReplacement Parts to him and many of my woodworking friends.
