This item is a genuine OEM replacement part that is intended to be used with lawn tractors from Toro and small engines from Briggs & Stratton. This ring gear attaches to the flywheel. This part is used to interconnect with the starter motor gear to allow the motor to rotate the flywheel when starting the engine. The hardware is included and the kit is priced as a single item.

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, Power Drill, Socket set, Wrench Set, Gear puller

    Troubleshoot engine and order parts as required.
    Disconnect battery. (Saftey Frist)
    Remove engine cowling.
    Remove engine cover to expose flywheel not.
    Use impact drill to remove flywheel retaining nut.
    Use gear puller to lift flywheel from engine shaft.
    Drill out rivets holding ring gear to flywheel.
    Install new ring gear using bolt and nuts provided with new part.
    Reinstall flywheel to shaft.
    Timing key will most likely need to be replaced on shaft.
    Install retaining washer and nut. Troque nut as required.
    Reinstall engin cover and hood cowling. Start engine and test repair.

    Screwdriver, Pliers, Power Drill, Socket set, Wrench Set, Flywheel puller

    1. Remove flywheel nut
    2. Use flywheel puller to remove flywheel
    3. Drill out rivets holding gear to flywheel and remove gear
    4. Install new gear with provided bolts and nuts
    5. Install flywheel back on motor with square key lined up
    6. Install flywheel nut and torque to spec
