This is an authentic OEM part for use with Briggs and Stratton and Toro Lawn Tractors. The starter drive assembly attaches to the starter motor and engages the engine flywheel to start the engine when the starter motor runs. The most common reason for replacing the starter drive kit is when the engine won’t start. This part included the shaft, gear, wave washer, spring and the starter cap. Here is a list of tools that are needed to replace the starter drive assembly 1/4 inch socket or nut driver, 3/8th-inch socket or nut driver, two small flat-head screwdrivers, 1/2 inch socket and wrench and pliers.

Parts Used
1- disconnect cable from battery
2- remove cable from starter motor
3- remove starter motor
4- could not remove c-clip from st. motor shaft
5- used hack saw to cut off disc
6- replaced gear drive assembly
7- could not get c-clip back on, then lost in
8- REPAIR KIT DID NOT INCLUDE A NEW C-CLIP
9- bought external retaining ring at Hardware store
10- installed starter motor----ALL GOOD

2. Removed Air Cover.
3. Removed Air Filter.
4. Removed Engine Cover.
5. Removed C Clip from top of Starter Gear.
6. Removed Gear Cover and Spring from atop the Starter Gear.
7. Removed Starter Gear by turning Backwards on Gear at top on Starter on Flywheel.
8 Replaced Starter Gear, Drive Gear, Return Spring, Clutch Drive, Retention Plate, Washer and Clip.
9.DONE!! YAY!!
