My husband and I took the coffee pot apart and replaced the element. It was a simple repair
NOTE:
This particular model has a lid on the carafe that isn't user friendly. The small tabs that hold it in place to the carafe snap off when you are removing it. The new lid snapped a tab just a few days after using. This was the reason I purchased new lids.
