It provides leading current in AC circuits. In a DC circuit, the capacitor once charged with the applied voltage acts as an open switch. Coleman 2500 power mate ran fin but would not produce electricity. Found the capacitor had exploded.

Parts Used
1. Remove plastic housing on the bottom of generator by removing 3screws. Disconnect the ground wire.
2. Pull the plastic housing off the generator, this will require unhooking the wiring harness connector.
3. Slide the two wires off the capacitor and remove bad capacitor.
4. Install the new one.
Put the plastic housing back on using reverse order of steps 2 and 1.

Removed side and end covers
Removed capacitor and replaced.
Reinstall covers. Started unit and checked voltage. Had to adjust governor to get voltage within range. Works fine now.

Removed end cover, unbolted old capacitor and installed new capacitor, reinstalled end cap. Started unit and flashed the field,done!
