  • Complicated repair. Part fit perfectly, our food processor is working again.
To change this part you have to open the bottom of the food processor and remove the motor. The 6 screws that attach this part are screwed up from inside the base. For a skilled mechanic this is a 30 minute job. You will need a 12" long #2 phillips screwdriver. The feet are held on by screws, under the feet are more screws that hold the bottom on. Also the top of the motor shaft has a cover, revealing a screw underneath. The rest is straight forwardward. Our feet screws were corroded and difficult to remove. Lubricate the screw heads with ATF and wait 24 hours B4 you torque on them, or a screw head might shear.

Primary part was fine, a necessary part was discontinued!!
The replacement Bowl Lock Plate looks to be a perfect replacement. However, the set screw was frozen or seized in place so I could not get the old part out. The screw had been secured with red lock tite cement. I had to drill the head off of the screw to get it out. The problem is, the screw is metric and left hand threaded and eReplacements has decided not to stock it anymore! The whole repair is foiled without a replacement screw! I was very disappointed. Why stock the part and discontinue the necessary screw to replace it? Why not just charge 10 or 15 cents more and include a replacement screw? No local stores or state-side suppliers had it. I'm waiting 3 weeks for a dozen screws to arrive from China. (You can't buy just one or two). You might consider a broken bowl lock plate as a reason to splurge for a new Breville Sous Chef food processor.

Unlike other comments which indicate an easy replacement, accessing the six screws on the underside of the lock plate requires complete disassembly of unit including motor removal. Not recommended for those unfamiliar with complicated disassemblies.
