The flail blade attaches to the impeller assembly. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer and used in chippers made by MTD, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Cub Cadet. It is available as an individual replacement part even though two may be needed. This part may require a socket set, a wrench set, and a hammer during installation. It is made of metal and will need to be replaced if it breaks or cracks.

    Took broken flail and pins off & clips and replaced with new parts . Easy.

    Socket set, Wrench Set, Hammer, drift

    1. Removed main chute
    2. Locate problem: broken flail tooth (lots of vibration when running was the clue)
    3. Remove chipper blade/flail housing
    4. Remove clip cover
    5. Drive out roll pin; pull off broken flail.
    6. Install new flail; reset with new roll pin; replace clip cover
    7. Reinstall cover & chute
    8. Check all bolts for tightness
    9. Start engine and check for vibration.
