The handle and finger guard have to be removed. Once removed, all the screws holding the two halves of the component enclosure have to be removed. This exposes the blade and gear assembly part. Care must taken as the blade and gear assembly have to be lifted out of the casing. Be extremely careful handling the new blade assembly. It's sharp. When changing the blade, the motor, control board and wiring are all attached. The blade / gear is attached to the motor, etc. Two bolts, two stepped washers, and a retainer bar hold the blade assembly to the motor. Once replaced, everything has to get reversed. Care must be taken as the trigger can easily get dislodged. Pay attention to everything as you separate the the two halves of working mechanics inside as you disassemble. Be careful pulling on wires and making sure they are properly seated in their holding slots so that they don't get pinched when reassembling. Don't forget to clean out any organic material inside the gear space. Apply a small amount of gear grease to the new blade / gear before closing up the two halves or clamp shell housing. Replace the handle and finger guard.
