This is an authentic Black and Decker replacement part, not and aftermarket equivalent. It is specially designed to help securing the blade assembly to the jar. It also helps to secure the jar to the blender base. Be careful not to over tighten this collar, they do have a tendency to crack. It is made out of black plastic and it is sold individually.

All I had to do was screw the replacement base on the base of the blender jar.

If was nothing , the base came off by just unscrewing and I replaced it with the new piece. More importantly , I found you online, I saved myself the aggravation of driving everywhere to find the replacement or ending up buying a new blender which wasn't really necessary.
