I turned the sander over with the backing pad facing me, used a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove four screws securing backing pad, lifted off the old backing pad, placed the new backing pad on the sander, used the Phillips #2 screwdriver to replace the four screws securing the backing pad, installed a new sander disc, & resumed sanding.
