Product Description ?

This is a genuine manufacturer sourced replacement tyle 5 drive belt used on Dirt Devil and Royal upright vacuums. It is used to drive the brush roll assembly. This belt is made out of rubber material and it is sold individually. Over time belts will wear out and stretch requiring replacement. It is recommended to replace these belts every 6 months to ensure optimum performance.

Replacing a belt of an upright vacuum is a simple and quick task that should only require a screwdriver.

• Ensure the vacuum is unplugged
• First remove the bottom plate
• Slide the belt off the motor shaft
• Lift and remove the brush roll
• Remove the old belt
• Place the new belt on the motor shaft
• Slide the brush roll through the belt
• With belt in place, pull and slide brush roll into nozzle
• Secure the bottom plate
• Reattach nozzle guard

    Unscrewed the bottom plate and stretched the belt around the rotating brush. Replaced the plate.Reassembled.

    Remove the screws on the bottom of the vacuum with a phillips head screwdriver
    Removed the tattered belt
    Put the new belt on the motor shaft
    Put it around the end of the brush roll
    Installed the brush roll into the side brackets
    Re-screwed the bottom back on the vacuum
    DONE!

    Remove the nozzle guard assembly.
    Remove the brush roller.
    Remove the old belt and clean the area.
    Place the belt on the motor shaft.
    Place the belt on the end brush roller and pull on the brush roller to place it in the side brackets.
    Replace the nozzle guard assembly.

    The booklet didn’t have enough instructions to change belt

    The roller brush had cracked where the belt rolls and the belt was melted to the roller.

    Changing the belt was easy
    Remove screws and take belt brush cover off
    Then remove roller and belt
    Put belt on shaft and roller
    Put roller back in place and put guard back on

    Worn out belt

    I simply put one end of the belt around the pulley, the other end around the end of the brush, and slid both ends of the brush in place. I used a screw driver to put the cover over the brush and was finished. No special instructions were necessary.

    1. Unplug the cord.
    2. Remove 5 screws holding the base plate.
    3. Lift out the brush.
    4. Remove the broken belt.
    5. Install the new belt on the motor shaft and the brush.
    6. Replace the brush in place.
    7. Replace the base plate & 5 screws.
    8. Plug in the cord to test run.
