This is a genuine Ryobi part for use with Trimmers. The straight shaft assembly rotates the cutting head on the line trimmer. The most common reason for replacing the straight shaft assembly is if it is damaged or if the trimmer head will not rotate. This part is sold individually. The tools that you will need to replace the straight shaft assembly is a T-25 Torx head screwdriver and a 7/16 inch wrench.
