Product Description ?

This is a genuine OEM sourced replacement part designed for use with snow blowers and throwers. Shear bolts are installed in order to protect your snowblower. If the auger gets jammed or clogged, the shear bolt is designed to snap at a certain point of pressure, so it will not damage any other part of the unit. This item is made out of metal and it is sold individually. In order to install or remove this bolt you will need a wrench.

The Toro 620 models shear pin are hard to replace. Once you get broken pin out you need to tape in the new bolt so when you turn the rotor to opposite side to but on nut with long nose pliers the bolts won't fall out. Long extended sockets needed on both nut and bolt end
Good luck

Auger pin broke

John - February 13, 2024

Snowblower

Difficulty

Easy

Tools Used

Socket set, Electrical tape

Snow blower has 2 separate augers attached to the auger shaft by a bolt and locking nut. I used a small piece of electrical tape to hold the bolt in place while I attached the nut from the opposite side of the shaft. Then I used two ratchets to hold one side while tightening other side, don’t forget to wear gloves.

Shear bolt broke in one auger of a two stage snowblower. It has 2 augers, one right and one left.

Snowblower

Time

15-30 minutes

Tools Used

Socket set

1.tipped the blower back until handles were on the ground.
2. Rotated the auger shaft by rotating the impeller until the bolt hole in shaft was in a workable position, then pushed out piece of the broken bolt that was in the shaft.
3. Inserted the new bolt from bottom side and started the nut. This is the awkward part because the bolt is within the auger hub. Snugged down the self locking nut.
4. Returned the blower to its normal position. Started engine and tested the auger for proper action. DONE.
5. IMPORTANT: Ordered 2 new bolts and locking nuts from ereplacementparts to have on hand if another bolt shears.
