Questions & Answers for Reduction Gear

How do I know which part I need for the micro adjustment feature on this Milwaukee 12-in miter saw? It will engage and lock into place when I squeeze the lever for the dentent release however whenever I turn the knob for the micro adjustments it only spins for a few turns and sometimes it will catch and give me the micro adjustments and then it will just stop and continue spending again. Also as far as the calibration switch can you maybe explain to me how that works? I bought this all refurbished from a dealer here in South Georgia and I have to pay shipping to get it fixed under warranty which I don't remember if it's under warranty still or not but it's heavy as the saw is it's going to cost a lot of money to ship it off and I just don't have it right now so I'm trying to fix it myself I'm a little more than average mechanically inclined I would say I'm getting better at it anyways LOL but I figured that this might be easy project that I can do on my own. Any help at all would be amazing they don't have any sort of literature or any type of videos for this thing on YouTube anywhere on the Internet or anything that I can find that explains any of it.
Jason for model number 6955-20 asked on 2022-03-22
Hi Jason, Thank you for your question. When making adjustments to most miter saws, loosen the miter lock handle with about a half turn to the left and squeeze the detent release lever. Then rotate the control arm, until the pointer lines up with the angle on the miter scale. The most common angles have positive stop notches, so it is easy to find them. Then tighten the knob and you are ready to use you miter saw. If you are unable to tighten the knob it will likely need to be replaced. The knob is not listed in the parts list for your model and you will need to check with Milwaukee to verify if it is available. Here is a link to one of our YouTube videos that you may reference for more detailed information on how to adjust the miter saw, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lq3tsS84CWA. The miter saw in the video may appear different from yours, but it will give you a general idea on how to adjust it. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!
