This part is an OEM from Shindaiwa. The spark plug cap terminal is compatible with many lawn and garden devices. The metal component is fitted onto the end of the spark plug, sending the electric current from the ignition system to the engine's combustion chamber. This component is sold individually. A pair of pliers may be required for the removal and replacement.

Old Shindaiwa 242 Multi tool unit
My old 242 needed some attention. I had changed the spark plug and the boot and terminal had some issues, I guess after 20 plus years, it was bound to happen.
Looked up the unit by model and serial number. Ordered what I needed. Parts were spot on! Unit is back to normal.

1. Remove Fuel tank Assembly (remove straps and hose)
2. Remove Carburetor from cylinder (remove screws and gaskets, clean with Carburetor cleaner)
3. Disassemble and Remove the Cylinder from the Crankcase (remove screws and gaskets)
4. Remove Muffler from the Cylinder (remove cover plate and screws)
5. Remove Pist

6. Remove Ignition Coil from Flywheel
Note: With the exception of the Ignition Coil and Muffler, I use carburetor cleaner to clean the cylinder and carburetor (internal/external)
7.Reverse the steps to reassemble- replacing the parts that are unserviceable with the new part(s).
Note: The gap between the ignition coil to the Flywheel is approx. one business card apart.
