Originally took mower deck to the Store that I purchased the mower from and had it repaired, after the blade mandrel was bent when mowing and striking an exposed root. Repair was made to mower deck indicating that the mandrel part number had been replaced wth a different part number. The new part was an eighth/3/16\" longer than the origi
... Read morenal. When I got the repaired mower deck reinstalled on the mower the belts kept breaking as the belt pulley wobbled and continued to throw the belt. Added a flat washer to the mandrel shaft before the 7/8\" nut that secured pulley to the mandrel. Mower now works fine. I kept the other parts ordered for the next time a mandrel is damaged.
Removal of the mower deck is somewhat difficult. replacing the tractor drive belt needed some consideration when consulting the owners manual. 1, Removed the worn belt. This Craftman mower has a deck belt that lifts off simply by pulling it past pulley keepers, so no tools were required, just fingers.
2. Replaced the old belt with new, reversing the process, using fingers--no other tools.

both belts stretched. drive belt would hardly turn wheels
removed complete mower deck. changed drive belt without removing any pulleys. replaced deck blade belt, reinstalled deck and hooked up all levers. runs good now. rear wheels turn good..

I used a lawn tractor lift for the first time. Impact wrench to remove blades and replace. The belts were easy as Craftsman has the configuration right on top of the deck. Only had to take off 1 side of the deck brace.

The old Riding lawn mower tractor now runs like a frisky colt
We did need to replace a spring, also from ereplacement parts. I ordered two just because. After looking at the diagram instructions and the riding lawnmower and back again, my husband identified that
... Read morethe piece with the hole that the spring attached to was broken completely off. That said, like a second arm, there was another piece with a hole in it on the other side. Two springs connected together to the other arm with a hole and the riding lawnmower tractor works again.
The new belt improved the riding lawnmower tractor performance even further.
