Lifted the tractor up by the rear and removed the disc brake assembly. Cleaned the part including the pins that fall out when the pads are taken out. Then I found the disc was not sliding on the shaft (it needs to do that to let the pads to apply evenly then used. I cleaned the shaft and the inside of the disc so it would slide on the sha ft). Reinstalled the caliper and adjusted the brake adjustment on the rod so it would apply when I wanted it to and allow the clutch to release.

Brake pads fitted a Murray select 1998 42ö mower.
The lever was broken in half so this is the closest part I could find. It fitted but just installed it 180 degrees. And found a new place under the mower to attach the back spring.
Everything was real easy to reinstall and is working perfectly.
