This spark plug is a genuine OEM sourced replacement part. It is used with Makita gas powered trimmers and backpack blowers. A spark plug delivers electric current from an ignition system to an internal combustion engine. Symptoms of a bad spark plug include difficulty starting, misfiring or the inability to start the engine at all. Please note, this item is sold individually. You would need a spark plug wrench or a socket wrench to install the spark plug.

Remove the primer bulb cover, remove the old bulb and insert the new one and screw the cover on. Remove the air cleaner cover then remove the old air cleaner and install the new one. Remove the spark plug and gap the new one at 0.030

Replaced spark plug and gapped it at approximately 0.8mm, then removed the air cleaner cover and removed the old air filters and replace them with the new ones.

Hard to start and cutting out at high speed.

Performed tune up, replacing spark plug, air and fuel filters. Also replaced broken choke lever.
Replacing choke lever helped with starting, but tune up did not correct intermittent cut out at high speed.

Oil leak

Removed all appropriate covers to expose oil pipe. Starter rope assy also had to be removed in order to get a clear view of oil pipe. Removed screw holding oil pipe and pulled out oil pipe from motor block. Installed new o-ring on new oil pipe and reinstalled unit. Spark-plug was replaced also. Replace all covers.
