This replacement adjustment knob/screw is a genuine Makita part. It is supplied from original equipment manufacturer for use with belt sanders/trimmers. While the belt is running, use the adjusting knob to center the belt tracking. Failure to do so can result in frayed belt edges and wear on the sander frame. It is made out of metal with a plastic head/grip. This item is sold individually.

Sanding belt would not track properly

I removed the screws from the motor housing, and removed it. I then removed the retaining ring holding the shaft and front roller in the roller arm. I then removed the old tension roller arm and placed the new one with the old roller shaft cup washers and retaining ring. I placed the complete assembly in the sander housing, then installed the cup washer, roller and shoulder bolt. I then replaced the motor housing, then replaced the compression spring, flat washer and adjusting screw. The sander now tracks better then before
