2. Slid the worm gear lock off.
3. Removed the line guide nut.
4. Removed the pawl.
5. Slid the worm gear out.
6. Slid in the new worm gear.
7. Put in the new pawl in the line guide.

9. Replaced the worm gear lock.

Disassembled the reel, removed wormshaft. Replaced wormshaft, greased and oiled all moving parts. Reassembled.

Worm shaft was broken

1 open the left part of the reel
2 remove the damaged worm shaft
3 place the new worm shaft
4 close the reel

Took out the three screws on the side. Removed the clip holding the worm gear. Slid the worm gear out and slid the new one in. The new one fit just right and I was done in about 5 minutes.

I had to remove defective worm gear and replace with new one. You do this by taking off the side panel that does not have the reel handle..3 tiny screws.
