This part ACTUALLY FITS!
One of the parts in the box when purchasing a Mr Coffee 5-cup coffeemaker is a small paper and carbon filter disk and holder. The company claims that this works well in filtering out chlorine and other impurities just change it once a month for best results (the holder even has a red arrow that one can use to mark the month--the first letter of each is marked on the top ring). Sounds like a great idea, right? Well, it would be if THE DISKS WERE ACTUALLY AVAILABLE. The company claims that the filters are available at various retail stores and Amazon.com. THIS IS A LIE. The filter measures 2 1/2 inches the only ones I have found for sale nearly everywhere measure 3 1/2 inches, which will NOT fit. ONLY HERE, on eReplacementParts, can one purchase the correct sized filter and holder. The only complaint is that you cant get more than one in a package, and each one comes with the holder, which you really dont need (your old one works just fine.) Recommendation: use distilled or filtered water, which means youll need to change it less often.
