Product Description ?

This is a 100ml clear plastic bottle of hydraulic mineral oil for disc brake systems. Shimano mineral oil is formulated for the proper maintenance of hydraulic disc brakes. Mineral oil brake fluid is environmentally safe, non-corrosive, and offers excellent heat expansion properties. Mineral oil does not absorb water from the air.
It is recommended to replace oil inside the reservoir tank if you notice it has become discolored. There are also a few changes you might notice in your brakes that indicate it is time to change the fluid before your regular maintenance. The first is if the brake does not respond immediately when the brake lever is activated. Secondly, if the pressure point is not clearly defined, and it feels spongy. lastly, if the brake hose has been changed.
Steps for adding mineral oil: Remove the bleed nipple cap of the caliper, fill the syringe with oil, and connect the tube to the bleed nipple. Use a 3mm hexagon wrench to loosen the bleed screw by 1/8th of an inch, turn to open it. When the plunger of the syringe is pushed to add oil, the oil will start coming out through the oil funnel. Keep adding oil until you do not notice any more bubbles that are mixed with the oil that is coming out. Now you can close the bleed nipple, then remove the syringe while covering the end of the syringe tube with a cloth to prevent oil from spilling. Use a robber band to attach the tube and bag. Connect the tube to the bleed nipple using a 3mm hex wrench and then loosen the bleed screw. The oil and air bubbles should start flowing from the bleed nipple into the tube. Once there are no more air bubbles coming from the bleed nipple, close the bleed screw. Open and close the bleed screw quickly to release air bubbles (repeat this 2-3 times). Now you can tighten the bleed screw. When the brake lever is activated, air bubbles will make their way into the oil funnel. When you no longer see bubbles, release the brake lever as far as possible. Set the lever horizontally. Now you need to make sure no air is remaining. Plug the oil funnel that contains the oil stopper, so the O-ring mounted side is facing down. Remove the oil funnel while it is still plugged with the oil stopper and tighten the bleed screw, while letting oil come out. Use your cloth to stop oil from splattering. Check for any fluid leaks.
When storing your bike, put it flat and upright, so there it is less likely that air can enter the brake system. When you are transporting the bike, do not press the brake lever if the wheels are not on your bike because this can cause the pistons to come out too far.
