The part fit, worked like it was supposed to and my mower now has good wheels that don’t wobble and make the cut uneven.

Great service from you guys, really appreciated it - my old (1991) model Murray mower is still running fine, (one his third mower deck and probably 10th set of blades!)
I needed a left hand headlight lens (part 91319) but so far haven't found one - got the right hand lens and all the other parts aok, so looking forward to the winter overhaul in the shed - if anyone has any idea where I can get the lens I need, new or second hand, would be great to hear !

    Cheers
    Kelvyn

    Lawn tractor wouldn't steer

First I used my garage jack to lift the front of the tractor 23 inches off the ground. I would have used jack stands as well, but found when I did that there was no room for me beneath the tractor. The most obvious reason for the tractor not turning to the left was the triangular shaped gear's teeth on that side being so blunted that the pinion gear could not engage them. Fortunately, I had a gear from a previous tractor. To remove and replace the shoulder bolts on the steering plate I had to hold the top of the bolt with a half inch wrench with one hand while removing the center lock nut on the bottom with a 9/16 socket. The center bolt was a bit more tricky as the nut was further back, but I managed. Once I had the new gear bolted in place, I thought that I was finished. That is when i found that the reason that the gear teeth were blunted was because the steering column had worn the base steering plate from 3/4 inch to 1 1/2 inches! so my next job was to remove the steering wheel and the holding pin on the top. Since I ruined the holding pin on removal, I drilled a hole through the steering column and attached the steering wheel to the column with a bolt. Since I also had a spare base steering plate, I removed the old one and installed that after putting a 'touch' of grease inside. Note: I buy old Murray lawn tractors for their 42 inch mowing decks as they are no longer available for purchase. I often strip parts from them that I might use. I had to purchase the shoulder bolt and its nut from replacement.com because the 'wear' items are never any good. My total time for the repair was around seven hours, but the tractor steers like new. It is a 1999 Murray Widebody GT with a standard transmission and a 17.5 horsepower Briggs and Stratton replacement engine from surplus center.com that is much more powerful than the original 17.5 HP Tecumseh was. I prefer standard transmissions because they do not wear out. I buy my belts and blades from Sunbelt.com, (I think...it's a division of John Deere), because the belts are Kevlar.
