This is a genuine Whirlpool part for use with Whirlpool Washers. The motor coupling is a flexible coupling on the motor shaft connected to the direct-drive transmission. If the drive system seizes up, the coupling breaks to protect the drive motor from damage. The most common reasons for replacing the drive motor coupler is when the washer is not spinning or agitating, makes loud noises, or when clothes come out of the washer dripping wet. This part is sold individually. Here is a list of tools that need to replace the direct drive motor coupling are a flathead screwdriver, Phillips head screwdriver, hex socket and a hammer. Unplug the washer before installing this part.

Remove 2 screws holding control panel
Flip control panel back
Remove 2 clips holding back panel to washer body
Remove washer body by lifting up and rolling back
Remove pump housing
Remove motor clips
Remove old motor coupling
Instal new motor coupling making sure to set on shaft by taping on
Line motor side and transmission side up with rubber bushing
Reinstall motor clips, pump and pump clips
Reinstall washer body making sure to line front of body up with chassis
Reinstall body to back panel clips, flip control panel back down and reinstall screws.
All done
Flip control panel back
Remove 2 clips holding back panel to washer body
Remove washer body by lifting up and rolling back
Remove pump housing
Remove motor clips
Remove old motor coupling
Instal new motor coupling making sure to set on shaft by taping on
Line motor side and transmission side up with rubber bushing
Reinstall motor clips, pump and pump clips
Reinstall washer body making sure to line front of body up with chassis
Reinstall body to back panel clips, flip control panel back down and reinstall screws.
All done
