This part is an OEM from Whirlpool for use with Whirlpool Dryers. The thermostat monitors and regulates the temperature inside the dryer. The most common reason for replacing the thermostat is if the dryer runs but doesn’t heat. This part is sold individually. The tools that you will need to replace the thermostat are 1/4 inch nut driver or socket and a flat head screwdriver. Make sure to unplug the dryer power cord and turn off the gas before doing any work on the dryer.

Replaced the heating element and fuse. Had continuity through circuit but still wouldn’t work. Replaced additional thermostats etc., it turns out that when the heating element shorted it also damaged the breaker, so I lost one leg of the circuit. Hence the drum would turn but no heat. Check the breaker for 240.
